How to Get Your Home Ready for Photo Day
Updated: 2 hours ago
A little prep before the shoot makes a big difference in the final photos. Here's a simple checklist you can follow, or share with your sellers.
Inside the home
Turn on every light, including lamps and under cabinet lights
Open blinds and curtains to let natural light in
Clear kitchen and bathroom counters as much as possible
Hide personal items like photos, mail, keys and medication
Make the beds and fluff the pillows
Put toilet seats down and hide trash bins
Remove fridge magnets and papers
Outside the home
Move cars out of the driveway and away from the front of the house
Put away garbage bins, hoses and toys
Cut the grass and sweep the walkway if you can
Turn on the porch and exterior lights
On the day
Pets are best out of the house or in one room we can skip. It also helps if everyone stays out of the rooms while we shoot, so we can move quickly and keep things on schedule.
When I arrive, I do a quick walkthrough and help with any last clutter, so don't stress about making it perfect. A clean, bright space is all we need, and we take care of the rest.
